Hailed by Chambers & Partners as “the go-to First Amendment and defamation lawyer in the country,” Megan Meier is one of only six attorneys recognized by Chambers as among the best in the United States for First Amendment Litigation (Mainly Plaintiff) and High Net Worth: Defamation / Reputation Management. Hailed as “a powerhouse,” “an extraordinary advocate” and “a shaper in her industry,” Megan won an $8 million jury verdict on behalf of the chairman of a private investment firm in libel litigation over a defamatory dossier.

After representing Dominion Voting Systems in historic defamation litigation that led to a $787.5 million payout from Fox News, Meier and her partners founded Meier Watkins Phillips Pusch to provide world-class legal representation to companies and high-net-worth individuals facing high-profile reputational attacks from the media, corporate competitors, activist organizations, and others.

Shortly after founding their firm, Meier and Watkins won a multi-million dollar landmark jury verdict in a defamation case that further solidified their reputation as elite defamation litigators and earned them recognition as finalists for the National Law Journal’s “Winning Litigators” Award in 2025.

Recognized internationally, Meier has served as an expert on U.S. defamation law in foreign proceedings. She is regularly tapped to speak at conferences and has guest lectured on defamation and media law at the University of Michigan Law School, Harvard Law School, New York University School of Law, George Washington University School of Media & Public Affairs, University of North Carolina School of Law, William and Mary Law School, and Barnard College.

Meier believes that facts matter and that liars should be held accountable. She loves musical theater, cheap white wine, cancelled stand-up comedians, friendships with people across the aisle, and living in the heart of Washington, D.C. with her family and Bernese Mountain Dog, Samson.
